Hiding Curves/Sketches in separate views & model curves in Drafting ap

Hiding Curves/Sketches in separate views & model curves in Drafting ap

Hiding Curves/Sketches in separate views & model curves in Drafting ap

(OP)
I am using NX6 (...possibly soon NX7!!) and I am curious...

While drafting, how can I hide a sketch or curve in one view only?

When I hide a curve or sketch in one view, it removes it from the other view as well.

Or alternatively, how do I show a curve or sketch in only one view?

It seem silly to have a curve seen in the front view show up in the right view as well when it is not needed in that view.

Also we have models that combine many surfaces.  The surface transition without lines you cannot even see but when you got to draft it it shows all the separate surfaces...  Is there any way to hide model lines in drafting?

Thanks Again All!

Keegan

RE: Hiding Curves/Sketches in separate views & model curves in Drafting ap

You can move the curves and sketches to another Layer and then while in the Drawing, go to...

Format -> Visible in View...

...and select the view of interest and then set the 'Visibility' mask for the layer which you wish to see in that particular view.

As for the issue with the 'seams' between surface patches, you could try selecting the view(s) that you wish to not see them in and then using MB3 select 'Style' and then under the 'Smooth Edges' tab, toggle OFF the 'Smooth Edges' option.  If the seams are truly 'smooth' then they will be removed from the view.  If not, then they are like any other 'hard edge' in the model and will be displayed.  At that point your only course of action would be to manually edit the visibility of these 'edges' using...

Edit -> View -> View Dependent Edit...

...and after selecting the view which you wish to remove the edges from, you will need to select the 'Erase Object' option in the 'Add Edits' section of the dialog and then manually select the edges you wish to remove from that view.
