Seismic R values for materials handeling elevator bents?

Seismic R values for materials handeling elevator bents?

We are designing a coal elevator consisting of several bents and a transfer tower.

The ASCE7-05 Table 15.4.2 does not include a similar condition to the bents.  Does anyone know of a source that will give an R value for this condition? Or have an oppinion on what value to use from Tab. 15.4-2?

Thanks,

Ryan

RE: Seismic R values for materials handeling elevator bents?

I recently designed foundations for a coal conveyor system that was designed by others.  They considered the bents as "trusses towers" with R=3 according to Table 15.4-2.

Thanks Bendog for the reply,
that's the direction our thinking is headed too. We had some debate to call them an inverted pendulum (R=1.5) but the descriptions for the trussed towers seemed a better fit.
