can I turn multiple connected lines into a single polyline or entity?
can I turn multiple connected lines into a single polyline or entity?
(OP)
Is there a simple way to make many connected lines into a single entity inside of a drw file. In autocad, I would use pedit and join. Or, how do I start drawings lines that end up as one entity? I dont suppose I would need this so much in sketches, but it would be nice in drws when I add lines for ref. thanks

There is no such thing as pline in SW as there is in ACAD. Because entities are related in SW, i.e., they are not independent, there is no need for pline in SW. If you really want to do it, you may want to try Make Path or Block.
Good Luck!

But this is a case of trying to apply "ACAD" centric thinking to 3D modeling centric software.

OP talked about sketches in drawing documents. A composite curve feature does not work in drawing, does it?

I am not sure if you can group sketch entities in drawing. You can group notes, but not lines and arc entities. I currently use SW2008. With SW09 or 10 it may be possible.

Make a block.
If you add lines for reference, are they not constrained to the model?

Can you post an example of the references you are creating, and explain their purpose?
