Motor matching
Motor matching
(OP)
I am currently using 2 350hp motors both at 1183 rpm to drive a wood chipper. I want to replace the chipper but I will need additional hp for the new chipper so I am looking at replacing one of the 350 hp motors with a 500 hp. Problem-- I cannot find a 500 hp at 1183 rpm. The best I can get is a 500 hp at 1175 rpm. Will this be a problem

RE: Motor matching
A fast calc indicates that the motors will share the load equally up to 700 HP (350 hp each).past that the 350 motor will still share equally with the 500 until it smokes.
1200 - 1183 = 17 rpm slip.
500 hp @ 25 RPM slip:
25 RPM x 350 hp /500 hp = 17.5 RPM slip. Less than 3% difference in slip rpm / hp.
Like I said, trim a pulley.
