diaphragm closure seal

diaphragm closure seal

(OP)
Hi all,

I have a high pressure exchanger with a "seal-welded diaphragm closure" for the channel cover.

Reading some info about this gasket type made me wonder if I need to calculate the bolting torque/load like a self-energizing gasket or not (asme VIII div1 appendix2).

Someone has experience with these gaskets?

Thanks in advance.

RE: diaphragm closure seal

flaka, these types of closures are commonly treated as "self-energizing", i.e. m=0, y=0, although of course they are not self-energizing, they are welded.

Regards,

Mike
