Double tubesheet heatexchangers

Double tubesheet heatexchangers

Calculation of tubesheets.
I´m designing floating head heatexchangers with double tubesheets, TEMA Fig. RCB-7.126.
The inner tubesheets are as follows.
Fixed side: Tubesheet gasketed with shell, extended as flange.
Floating side: Outside packed tubesheet.

The outer tubesheets are as follows.
Fixed side:Tubesheet gasketed with channel, extended as flange.
Floating side:Tubesheet gasketed to channel, loose flange/split ring.

Is it correct to follow TEMA RCB-7.1261 when applying pressure loads to the ASME UHX-14?
I.e. shellside pressure only when calculating inner tubesheets, and tubeside pressure only when calculating the outer tubesheets.

RE: Double tubesheet heatexchangers

Thruxton500, I don't find your references in my TEMA 8th.

Are you using a later edition? Are the tubesheets what are called "Separate Double Tubesheets", RCB-7.156 in my 8th?

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike.
I have the 9th edition, yes it is the separate double tubesheets.

RE: Double tubesheet heatexchangers

Thruxton500, yes, I believe your approach is correct, based on my (sketchy) understanding of the construction and my TEMA 8th.

Regards,

Mike
