Adding elements in Abaqus Explicit

Adding elements in Abaqus Explicit

Adding elements in Abaqus Explicit

(OP)
Hello everyone,

Just wondering is someone can provide me with some direction on a problem I am trying to solve. In short, I would basically like to know if there is a way to turn on an element, in particular a fastener, at a specific step in the simulation using Abaqus Explicit. I know this can be accomplished with *MODEL CHANGE in standard. However, it is a complex contact problem that works relativly quickly in explicit.

I have not been able to get the problem to solve at all in standard, static or dynamic. It has issues with convergence. So if there is a way for me to turn a fastener element on in a step in explicit, or any other way to get around this, it would be extremely helpful.

Thank you in advance.
