Ansi 300# A105 maximum temperature rating

(OP)
Has anyone the info at hand to state what the actual design temperature rating is for a 300# A105 type material.

RE: Ansi 300# A105 maximum temperature rating

What is your design temperature?

  100°  740 psi
  300°  655 psi
  600°  570 psi

etc.

RE: Ansi 300# A105 maximum temperature rating

I wouldn't be inclined to go above 775 to 800 F, the onset of graphitization, even though B31.3 lists allowable stresses in tension for A105 up to 1100 F in Table A-1.  The graphitization threshold in ASME B16.5 Table 2-1.1 is listed as 425 C (797 F), with an upper temperature limit of 538 C (1000 F).  The corresponding flange ratings for 300# are 28.8 bar @ 425 C and 5.9 bar @ 538 C.

Regards,

SNORGY.
