Difference between 110 V & 220 V

Difference between 110 V & 220 V

Difference between 110 V & 220 V

(OP)
   Dear All

What is the difference between 22oV 50HZ & 110 V 60HZ ? which is the cheaper between the two ?

If we have 220-240 V 50HZ systeem & the frequency raise more than 50 HZ what's happen to the equipments & what's  behavior of the system !!!!!!

   Pls.  Check & Advise
 Thanks lot inadvance
  Cheers

RE: Difference between 110 V & 220 V

IEC versus NEC. Lot of restrictions in the NEC for use of 220v. What is the application?

RE: Difference between 110 V & 220 V

A voltage doesn't really have a price. The magnetics for 50hz systems will cost 1/6th more than the magnetics for 60hz systems.

You have not provided enough detail to anwer the question. Different components respond to a frequency change differently. Do you want to run a 50hz system on 60hz?

RE: Difference between 110 V & 220 V

220V is economical hands down. Besides requiring a smaller conductor (less copper) for a given load, 220V systems does not require a intervening transformer as 400Y/220V systems provides it directly.

110V or more typically 208Y/120V systems requires additional step-down transformers in commercial/industrial facilities where common equipment voltage is 480Y/277V.

Economics plays a greater role outside of the USA. Many legacy systems in the USA were adopted when money was  lesser of a concern (and still is for major part, despite all hue and cry about saving money).

I missed that you second question was totally different. The issue of use 50 Hz equipment on 60 Hz systems and vice versa has been discussed quite a few times in this forum. Do a search for them.

RE: Difference between 110 V & 220 V

The correct answer your question is:-
110V
10HZ
But I don't think this will help much.
I respectfully suggest you get some books out of the library and look at the relationship between power, voltage, current, resistance, frequency etc.
Apologies if you come from a place where books are scarce but you obviously have an internet connection and there is plenty info on the World Wide Web.
