Weld width. ( d*3 ? )

Weld width. ( d*3 ? )

Weld width. ( d*3 ? )

(OP)
I am aware of common practice whereby weld width  is restricted to 3 times the diameter of the electrode used.
(ie vertical weave welding with a 4d electrode has a restriction on width to 12mm, anything wider has to be multi-capped!)
I am unable to find this restriction is ASME IX, the tank is also governed by API 620 code.

Please assist on this matter.

RE: Weld width. ( d*3 ? )

You should have to make a PQR  for this... ;)

No such restrictions or limitations exist in Section IX.  Any limit imposed would be put on the WPS at your discretion.
