DIN 18CrNi8 chemical components and physical properties? which spec for this material?

RE: DIN 18CrNi8 chemical components and physical properties?

Ricky, I've looked at the worldwide guide to equivalent irons and steels. With a DIN designation, it should be of German origin, and the 18CrNi8 would lead me to believe that it's a variant of 304 stainless. I find 4 specifications in the guide - DIN 17440(96) with a designation of WNr 1.4301, DIN 17441 (97)with a designation of WNr 1.4301, and DIN EN 10088 (95) with 2 designations - WNr 1.4301 and X5CrNi18-10. Chemistry on all 4 is very similar with Cr = 17.0 to 19.5, Mn @ 2.00 %max, C @ 0.07 % max, Ni @ 8.00 to 10.5 %, Si @ 1.00 % max, P @ 0.045% max, S @ 0.030 % max, and N @ </= 0.11 %.
Properties will vary with the form (sheet, bar, plate, etc.) you're interested in and its dimensions.
