No wires, chip programming

No wires, chip programming

No wires, chip programming

(OP)
I want to get a discussion going on Bluetooth technology: It is my intention to design a development board with bluetooth and an FPGA.
The limited scope of the project is to implement a fairly robust bluetooth link via linux 2.6 kernel running on a Xilinx FPGA. Fpga's are my area of interest, therefore not change that aspect of this design, but would entertain ideas that would stop the show.
Bluetooth is bulky in terms of computing overhead for running a standard protocol, but the number of devices up and running are numerous, cell phones everybody has them. One module I like is Bluegiga, but at $50 a bit pricey. The chip running bluegiga is the bluecore by Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) great looking chip at a low price, $3-5. I have not seen anything comparable, but the initial investment in bluecore is not quite known. The company is located in england and may have to invest some midnight hours to get to know someone across the waters.

1. Anyone using Bluecore chips by CSR?
2. What is the cost of investment to use this chip from a   complete board design standpoint?
3. Any other chips comparable to bluecore?
4. Any pitfalls to be aware of putting a complete board  design together.

Thank you for your consideration

RE: No wires, chip programming

What problem are you trying to solve?

...

I personally don't care, but once you write that down, everything else becomes clearer.
