How to set a 1deg. max rotation and get the moment required as result
How to set a 1deg. max rotation and get the moment required as result
(OP)
I am designing an automotive chassis and want to analyse it in ANSYS 12. What i want to find is the chassis torsional rigidity. The units are Nm/deg.
How can i set the maximum rotational displacement to be 1degree so i can directly get the moment needed to get this 1deg rotation? If i achieve to do that all my results will be my final torsional rigidity results for any analysis. Thanks in advance!

RE: How to set a 1deg. max rotation and get the moment required as result
If the chassis is symmetric about the longitudinal axis, then restrain spring bracket points corresponding to rear axis, and at the front spring bracket point corresponding to front axis, apply rotation in length corresponding to 1 deg.
Length can be calculated as = Half of the distance between the points(r) * angle (1deg)
L =r*Angle
Then apply this displacement constraint value (L) at the points corresponding to front axis.
Solve and measure the reactional moment, and calculate the torsional stiffness = moment/angle
