Hydrocad substitutes

(OP)
Hi all,

I was stunned to receive a letter from FEMA saying that a project I had done in April using Hydrocad was unacceptable because they don't approve Hydrocad.  It was especially surprising since Hydrocad uses TR-20 which IS one of the acceptable programs.

My question is, of the various hydrology software downloads which are free from various government agencies which one is most user friendly and quick to learn?

Does anyone know are the Feds in the middle of some long drawn out (as in years) approval process for Hydrocad or are they just ignoring it altogether?

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the quick response.  I looked at the list of FEMA accepted software.  There are qujire a few choices.  What I was wondering is which one is the most user friendly.  I looked at the documentation for TR-20 and all I could say was &%^#$@!*%^&$.  It was obviously written in the days of dot matrix printers.

Thanks,
Dave

RE: Hydrocad substitutes

Assuming this is a basic runoff issue (as opposed to stream routing or water surface profiles), your options for public domain (free) software would be Win-TR-20 or Win-TR-55.
