Wood Stud Wall Capacities

Wood Stud Wall Capacities

Does anyone know of a quick table or chart that shows different lb/ft cacpacities of wood stud walls?  Basically I'm just looking for a quick reference to use during conceptual design and project layout to determine if a specific stud size/spacing and wood type is feasible.

It would show 2x4, 2x6, 2x8 etc for several main types of wood (Hem-Fir, SYP, etc) at different stud spacings.  Then give approximate capacity based on assumed adjustement factors, etc.

Maybe there are too many variables here, but it seems like something APA or AWC would have created.  I haven't come across anything yet and thought I'd check here before I spend the time creating my own.

There are a number of these tables available through the Canadian Wood Council.  I'm certain the APA will have produced similar ones... I presume you're looking for something in the US?

Thanks - Yes, I'm looking for something in the US.

RE: Wood Stud Wall Capacities

sign up for wwpa and download their stud design program.  It is only western woods, though.

The IRC has some stud tables I believe.  Not sure but I think they do.

I developed my own for HF and DF years ago.

The NDS has a stud table with a few different species, heights and wind. I believe table 5A from 1997 code.  Not what table in the new code. The new NDS also has prescriptive tables similar to the IBC and IRC.
But highly recommend making your own table, verify the stud capacities and have a good understanding what you are designing. Also, I usually find most tables are very conservative.
