Faster way to re-name componets in NX6?

Faster way to re-name componets in NX6?

Faster way to re-name componets in NX6?

(OP)
I have a customer that requires their assy's componets to be named their pn#...001, 002, 003 etc...

It takes so long to handle 100's...  making each one the displayed part and then performing the "save as"

Any methods for this that I'm un aware of?

TIA

Dave

maybe the command line tool ug_edit_part_names.exe to find in the ugii folder of your nx installation
try it

or use the assembly cloning....

For what you want to do, even with cloning you have to specify part name for each component.  Writing a UGOpen program or Journal will be the best & fastest option.

Thanks for the input guys. I think ufsure is onto the right solution... allbeit over my head! I use to do some autolisp programming ans scripts for Autocad years ago. I guess its time to start looking to what options are availible in NX.

I'm now using enough hours on a regular basis wher i could really benefit from it.

Even keyboard inputs... they would really speed things up.

Thanks!

Dave
