Export parametric model to ANSYS

Export parametric model to ANSYS

Export parametric model to ANSYS

(OP)
Hi,
I have done a quite complex parametric model based on input in the "expressions"-tool in NX.
I have also done calculations on this model in different setups.
Now these calculations shall be verified by a consultant who uses ANSYS.
And we are as well intrested if we get the similar results.

Now to the question:
How do I export my parametric model to ANSYS?
I have tried using IGES, Step, Parasolid, etc.
But it simply don't bring the parameters, just the solids.

Anyone have a solution for this problem?

RE: Export parametric model to ANSYS

You would have to do the ANSYS analysis inside of NX using the NX Pre- and Post-Processors but using ANSYS as the solver if your need is to keep the model parametric.

RE: Export parametric model to ANSYS

You may want to install the Unigraphics integration plug-in for Ansys.  This adds an Ansys menu to NX, where you can simply select "Workbench" from the menu and it launches Ansys Workbench and brings you native NX part into the simulation enviornment (see screen shot).  According to the Ansys help, and the Geometry menu, there is some interaction between parameters passed on as well.  I do know that the material properties that you assign in NX carry over to the workbench enviornment if you select that option when you start your simulation in Workbench.  But I have not experimented with changing parameters yet.  If you don't have NX installed on the same computer as Ansys, I believe you can still install the Unigraphics integration plug in and open the native NX part in Ansys.  Not sure how to make parameter updates however.  You will have to experiment with this and see.  Please report back if this works for you.
