In earlier versions of NX (eg NX2) you could right click an extrude feature in the part navigator, click 'information' and it would include the vector direction of the extrude. Is there an easy way to get at this information in NX6? It is useful to know when tracking down modeling errors such as something that should be extruded along the X direction vector but in reality is only close to X.

RE: Extrusion vector

I'm not sure what you're referring to as the info presented when doing an info on an extrude feature in NX 6.0 is identical to what you got in NX 2.0, which BTW does NOT include anything about the vector direction.

RE: Extrusion vector

What about getting the 'information' by selecting the edge of the extrude.

Does that give you what you want?

That's the workaround I have been using for a while now, unfortunately it does not give vector components.

I believe NX2 was the first version to allow the use of drag handles on an extrude. We never turned that option on and instead used the older dialogs (from NX1 or earlier). Would that affect the output of the information window? Perhaps the direction vector wasn't shown if you were using the newer dialogs?

RE: Extrusion vector

Yes, that is the difference.  When I checked this earlier using NX 2.0, I used the 'new extrude' (with the drag handles), which does not report the vector direction.  Only Extrude features created using the older pre-drag handle era will give you the vector direction as part of an 'Information' report.

That's unfortunate.

I can live without the vector direction and there are workarounds, but it was nice to have it at the click of a button.
