SIEMENS Step 5 reference error

SIEMENS Step 5 reference error

SIEMENS Step 5 reference error

(OP)
I don't have much PLC experience yet (just teaching myself) and I'm stuck on a problem.

I've uploaded a programme to my PC from a SIEMENS S5-95U and I'm using Step 5 v6.5 to view it. When I try to view the XRF file (which I assume stands for cross-reference?) for any of the operands I get the following error message:

"Ref file ??????NI is being loaded!", and a pop-up window saying "File does not exist".

What is confusing me though, is that I recently uploaded a similar programme from an S5-90U using the same software and it worked fine. I've tried reinstalling Step5 but it doesn't help. I can't do what I want to do unless I can track quite a few flags through the programme (which is pretty big!).

Is the cross reference file something that should just come with the PLC programme? Can I create a new one? Thanks

Question answered on another forum, thanks! Basically the version of Step5 I had was incomplete so I got a newer one and it worked.
