catia v5 honest situation

catia v5 honest situation

catia v5 honest situation

(OP)
hi there, i want to swicth from catia v4 to catia v5 but i have heard there are some bugs in the 2D and sheetmetal?

I would appreciate a safe and sound approach as i have to start a very tight project.

Can anyone give me a honest point of view on the situation?

thanks

RE: catia v5 honest situation

Our company is currently running on level V5R8SP4. We have some difficulties to generate views as we want to.

Comparing to V4:
-3D on V5 has much more functionalities (parameters, design tables, assemblies, etc.).
-For now drafting is still better in V4. View generation in V5 has limitations like you can't do cut-out to detail view. All section, detail etc. views has to be made before dimensioning. You can't generate sections from view whic has allready dimensioned!

If drawing generation is important to you it might be wise to wait. At least until availability of R9.

RE: catia v5 honest situation

I'm just learning V5, so check what I say but...

I've not found problems using V5 2d's. I've done detail views with no problems, and genrated views after doing some dimensioning.

Good luck

could you be more specific when you say that you can't dimension once you have done views and sections etc...

does this means that if i make a view or a section and i dimension it afterwards it is impossible to modify it or to add new views or sections?

thanks
marco
