Drawing of assembly
Drawing of assembly
(OP)
Hello,
For some reason I can't create a drawing of an assembly. The assy itself is about 12MB big with one component of about the same size. When NX starts to make the drawing it begins to update and never stopts updating.
What settings can I change to get quick a drawing of a big assy?
See also picture of assy. And its not even detailed yet! This is only a concept design.

What is your hardware specs?
Just looking at that image, it will take a while to generate a hidden-line drafting view.

This technique is the recommended method for working in drafting with larger models. It does render more crudely but you can add dimensions in most cases with no noticeable difference.
However if you have need of the original to work then I'd suggest running examine geometry over most of what you've built to check whether it is some geometric anomaly rather than the size of it that is terrorising your system!

RE: Drawing of assembly
I waited for more then 10 minutes and nothing happened.
But I tried the "Faceted Representation" and that worked! A disadvantage of that, I found out, is that it's not possible to place a dimension on virtual edges, like the "edge" of a sphere. And the plots are also as facet. Is it possible to change the facet view to normal view or to change the tolerance of the facet?
Thanks for your help.

Patience works wonders at times. Not ideal, but that is the nature of the beast. I am writting this while regenerating another sheet. :)

I expect large models to take some time but I suspect that when they take too long their could always be some problems with the geometry.
One tip for new players is to turn off shaded previews and hidden line erasures in views that you are adding while you're adding them to the drawing if the geometry is very large. You can always change the view style afterwards to produce the final result.
