Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

(OP)
Hi

This is my first job out of school, and I need to measure the draft pressure in a secondary combustion chamber with temperatures above 1600 Celsius. The process is burning household garbage. I've spoken to several vendors and associates, and no one seems to have an answer, except that ceramic tubing should be involved. So...does anybody out there know how to connect a draft range pressure transmitter to a 1600 Celsius process? Or perhaps where or whom I may acquire this information.

Thanks

RE: Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

You might start with a websearch: http://www.dogpile.com/dogpile/ws/results/Web/high-temperature%20pressure%20sensor/1/417/TopNavigation/Relevance/iq=true/zoom=off/_iceUrlFlag=7?_IceUrl=true

And then look at possibly ways of coupling the sensors mechanically through a low thermal-conductance means.

Note that while "somewhere" there's a 1600°C temperature, the walls of the chamber are probably substantially cooler.

RE: Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

Just tap a 1/2" incolnel tube to the wall , and route a 1.5' long run of this tubing to the Xmitter . You will need to ad pure air, the purge air flow rate controlled to cause less than a 0.1 in wc DP across the length of the tubing.

If you also want to "snub" pressure oscillations, then include a beer can sized snubber ( aka helmholtz resonator) to the line, with a smaller 1/4" orifice at the furnace side of teh beer can ( made out of incolnel).

RE: Extreme high temperature pressue measurement?

I would use longer than 18-inches, perhaps 1.5 meter and avoid the purge air.  0.1-inch water column is significant in draft measurement.

Thanks for the direction.
