Sliding Nylon 6/6 on chrome plated ring

Sliding Nylon 6/6 on chrome plated ring

(OP)
Have a 9/16" rod covered with a (5/8 OD, 9/16 ID) nylon 6/6 bushing stock riding on a 3/4" ID chrome plated (65-70 Rc) ring.

Am trying to determine wear of Nylon 6/6.  I want the nylon 6/6 to wear first.

Have yet to find a equivalent hardness rating for the nylon 6/6.

Any comments or sources?

RE: Sliding Nylon 6/6 on chrome plated ring

You may want to obtain a free book from Laird Plastics.  It has much of the information you are asking. 800-610-1016.  Also contact manufacturer of plastic and request their design or engineering guide.  Note that nylon has high moisture absorption....could affect your clearances and thus calculations of wear rate.
