...I enjoy spending time on it for personal growth (I learn from the questions I don't answer, and I reinforce/stay sharp on the topics I do answer), and to give back to humanity at large...
FOG deposits over the period of time tend to block the sewage pipes, this is in a way similar to our own body system where the veins get blocked with cholesterol.I had being thinking what causes the FOG in a pipe to deposit all over the pipes inner region including the region above the flow levels of wastewater in a pipe, Does FATS OIL AND GREASE have any evaporating ability (i know they have adhesive property in them, but then the FOG formation should be restricted to the area of contact) so that they get deposited on the upper part of the pipes inner region?i was thinking do the FOG vaporize to form deposits in the pipe surfaces where it is not in contact with(the upper layer of the pipes inner region to take in to account)?
Sanitary sewers are designed and installed with sufficient diameter to carry the normal waste discharges from a residence or business. When FOG is discharged to the sewer, it cools and accumulates on the sidewalls of the sewer pipes. Over time, this accumulation of grease restricts the flow and causes blockages in the sewer which may result in overflowing manholes or basement backups.
An incease in water pH will also cause FOG to solublize in the sewer.
One would suspect very little of the FOG to evaporate.
FOG is less likely to accumulate in the line of flow because it will be washed away. That is why tbe FOG accumulates on the top of the sewer pipe. It is cooler and out of the flow path.
There is a company out of Canada called BactaPur that has a great bacterial treatment system for eliminateing FOG from sewer pipes and lift stations. Actually, they have a full line of bioremediation products.
There are many different companies that have FOG dispersal agents. there is a big trade show in Feb in Loiusville , Ky, Pumper Show. They have most of the companies in the US there.
