Introduction to Satellite

(OP)
hi all...

i am very much interested in the making of a satellite. So i would really much like to learn a few of the fundamentals considerations when we want to built a satellite.
I'm not trying to built one... but just interested in learning about its constructions, workings, etc...
lets say if i was going to work at a satellite producing company, what are the fundamentals things that i should be aware of at least....lets say... :)

so i was wondering if any of you guys/gals here know of a site that give some info about it...
if there isn't any sites, maybe a book or articals etc...

really hope that someone could help me out...

thanks a lot

Regards,
cromr

RE: Introduction to Satellite

Go to www.smad.com
and/or get the book Space Mission Analysis and Design by Wertz
And/or

Fundamentals of Astrodynamics and Applications, 2nd. ed. (The Space Technology Library) by Vallado.

thanks astroclone....

i'll have a look at the book :)

RE: Introduction to Satellite

I can recommend "Spacecraft Systems Engineering, 2. ed.", P. Fortescue and J. Stark (editors), Wiley. It gives a good all-round introduction to everything related to building and operating a spacecraft: Space environment, orbital mechanics, launchers, mission analysis, power systems, thermal design, communications, structures, product assurance - I've found it very useful.

RE: Introduction to Satellite

The book  "Advanced Electronic Communication Systems" by Wayne Tomasi has good information on satellite design.  Block diagrams of the satellite, transponder, uplink and downlink designs are illustrated.

RE: Introduction to Satellite

I would first recommend Space Mission Analysis and Design by Wertz and Larson as recommended above.  Fundamentals of Space Systems by Pisacane and Moore is also very useful.
