STEAM GENERATOR RELIEF VALVES

STEAM GENERATOR RELIEF VALVES

STEAM GENERATOR RELIEF VALVES

(OP)
Hello all,

We are using a kettle type heat exchanger to produce steam from high temperature streams flowing in the tubes.

How many relief valves should be installed on the shell side (the steam produced side) which are in service at any time of operation and according to what code this is the demand?

Regards,
          roker

RE: STEAM GENERATOR RELIEF VALVES

one n each pressure side.
calculate btu/h and convert to pph to size your sv.
ASME IV FOR 15PSI STEAM AND I FOR HIGH PRESSURE

RE: STEAM GENERATOR RELIEF VALVES

The relief capacity should also be checked for the case of one tube failing and releasing higher presure fluid thru 2 open ends of the failed tube. This can also overpressure the shell.
