Filler metal for 316/316LSS and Alloy 20

(OP)
What filler metal should be used for 316/316L Stainless Steel to Alloy 20 welding (GTAW process)

Thanks a lot.

RE: Filler metal for 316/316LSS and Alloy 20

I would use an Inconel filler metal 625.

RE: Filler metal for 316/316LSS and Alloy 20

I thought that I had a better idea, but practically speaking 625 will be the easiest to find.

However, since the weld needs no better corrosion resistance than 316 you could get away with simply using Alloy 20 weld filler.

RE: Filler metal for 316/316LSS and Alloy 20

I'm not understanding why this needs to be done. Why not use 321SS if this is for acid the 316 won't hold out as long without pitting.
