xref-layers

I can't freeze layers on x-refs. When I click a layer to freeze the x-ref it freezes the entire x-ref and not the layer itself. I have other coleagues here that can freeze the layers of an x-ref. Which option/command do I need to use to remedy this?
Using AutoCad 2000.

RE: xref-layers

Are you using the 'Express tools' layer freeze facility (LAYFRZ) or some other method? I was just wondering because I've not had a problem with this particular Express Tools command before.

If you ARE using express tools, have you tried unloading & reloading these menus to see if it's just a glitch that can be rectified by reloading?

Regards

Marc

RE: xref-layers

Maybe the rest of that particular Xref is blocks, the insertion points of which are on the layer you freeze.

Please try with some simple dwg as XREF. This problem should not occur when you freeze layers on layers properties dialog box.

It turns out that I needed to use the Options in LAYFRZ. LAYFRZ in Express tools needs the option "entity level nesting" selected to be able to individually freeze layers in an x-ref. If the options is set to none, it treats the x-ref like a whole entity.
