How magnetic is tungsten carbide/cobalt cemented carbide?

(OP)
The object is the indenting ball for a hardness tester.  Can the ball be picked up with an ordinary magnet?  Thanks!

RE: How magnetic is tungsten carbide/cobalt cemented carbide?

The tungsten carbide isn't magnetic, but the 3 to 20%Cobalt in the mixture is ferromagnetic, like iron or nickel. So how it responds to a magnetic field depends mostly on the ratio of cobalt to WC.

RE: How magnetic is tungsten carbide/cobalt cemented carbide?

The test method for the magnetic permeabilty of cemented carbides is ASTM A342.
