Multiple Pockets/Shells in one face
Multiple Pockets/Shells in one face
(OP)
Hi Folks - I'm new to CATIA and stumbling a lot, so thanks in advance for the help!
I'm trying to design a piece with multiple pockets of different shapes (kind of like a plastic drawer divider). The pockets also need to be applied to both sides of the part - some digging material from the front, some from the back. I want a constant wall thickness everywhere.
In SolidWorks I would just draw the center of every wall (including the outer wall) in construction lines and perform one bi-directional offset to create a uniform wall thickness (that's also linked for future alterations), then trim and extend lines until they all intersect correctly. In CATIA, it appears that there is no convenient way to do an offset like that.
So any hints on how to do this efficiently?
Cheers,
Rob

RE: Multiple Pockets/Shells in one face
There is a dedicated feature for this in the Part Designer workbench called "Stiffener" but you can also do it with the "Pad" feature if you set your options right.
If you want to do it as you described that you did in SW then use the Pad feature and turn on "Thickness" and "merge ends"
I would recommend that you do the outer wall first and then create a sketch for the dividers and use stiffener.
