Hello one and all,

One of our users has got a problem where he goes to add a part to an assembly, the component preview window pops up, but it is empty. We've tried changes the assembly preferences, all sorts of things, but still can't get it to display. I have attached a JPEG. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Best regards

RE: Add component preivew window empty

Did you checked your layer settings (als layers visible in view button)?

Thanks Michael, but we tried that first off and it made no difference.

Try placing your cursor over the Preview Window and pressing MB3 and selecting 'Fit'.

Tried that john, it only happens in the top level of an assembly if you go into any lower levels assemblies then it works OK, very strange indeed. even tried visible in view but to avail.

Maybe try to do a save as (to a new part or make a revision upgrade 1-01 to 1-02)from the part (that part that you want to add).
And try again.

RE: Add component preivew window empty

I've seen the same behavior when adding assemblies, if no components of the assembly are loaded you won't see anything in the preview window. Try opening at least one component of the assembly and see if it shows up in the preview window.

For what it is worth, I think this is how NX has always 'worked'.

RE: Add component preivew window empty

Nope still not the problem, we can pick on a fully open part that is already in the assembly and still it will not display in preview window, yet change the work part to a lower level and it shows fine. I'll just put it down to another NX4ism, and add it to the growing list of issues that add weight to the justifcation of the £3.5m we need for new servers and NX6 or 7 etc.

Thanks for trying guys, it's much appreciated

RE: Add component preivew window empty

Just open the component that you want to add separately and check the contents of the reference sets. When you add a component you will often have it set to lead either the MODEL or the FACET reference set and if either of these are unaccountably empty of course you'll see nix in the preview window.
