How to treat water inside Transformer 6300 kVA 22kV/6.9 kV

(OP)
Dear sir

During filling oil to this transformer, we pumped oil from oil drum .The problem is inside this drum having mud water in bottom.and already came to the transformer ,when we seen mud water in pipe .suddenly, we closed vaule between main tank and conservator tank and we believed that a bit mud water through conservator tank to stay in main tank and also in the Busholz relay.

PLease kindly to recommend what we can do??

Is it possible?? We fear that If we can't eliminate 100 % water  in winding inside transfomer then it will be energized again then It will exposion !!!!!!

Plase give me information

Contact the transformer manufacturer. I can see two problems here: First; removal of water/debris/contaminated oil from the bottom of the tank. If you are lucky, it all settled to the bottom. But the manufacturer will be able to recommend the proper procedures for getting it out of the low points.
Second; the filling operation may have dumped contaminants directly on the windings. The manufacturer will know where things go when they got poured in based on the tank and core design. They should also have test procedures for the oil and winding insulation.

I dont know how you filled oil in the tank.Normally it is done through lower filter valve. Then the free water may be at the bottom of tank. I came across exactly similar case last year.

Check IR value and tan delta of transformer. Also water content in oil noting down the oil temperature. This may give you an idea about the extent of insulation wetting.First drain oil and free water from bottom drain valve of the tank in to a separate oil tank.Circulate and dry that oil separately.Drain balance oil in to another tank.Vacuum the tank and then fill dry air or nitrogen.Keep for 24 -48 hrs.Check dew point for checking the wetting.Adopt any of the drying method described in ANSI/IEEE std C57.93-2007 depending on wetting.

When you sample from drum always use a sampling thief that will take oil sample from bottom of drum.Other wise top oil will be free of water and water being heavier will be  at the bottom.

Of course refer to manufcaturer if unit is with in waranty period.

Take an oil sample, if it's less than 20 -30 ppm it's ok. You need to send it to a lab to be tested. If it's wet you have to circulate hot oil through it till its dry.

Oil treating bible.
