Is Ram Elements able to implement the Direct Analysis Method similar to Ram Frame? Thanks!

RE: Ram Elements / Direct Analysis Method

For an explanation of the differences between RAM SS (Frame) and RAM Elements (Advanse) please refer to thin online topic:

http://communities.bentley.com/Wiki/view.aspx/RAM_Advanse_Importing_From_RAM_SS_FAQ

Regretfully, RAM Elements does not have an easy way to handle stiffness reduction at this time (the user can manually alter the effective inertia of members only). The other aspects of Direct Design (P-Delta analysis, notional loads) are possible.

RE: Ram Elements / Direct Analysis Method

RAM Elements can handle P-Large Delta (structure effect), but not P-Small Delta (member effect).  I was looking a 4-story moment frame model recently in RAM Element and the P-Large Delta effect made a big difference.

RE: Ram Elements / Direct Analysis Method

Look for the fact that RAM Elements can handle P-Large Delta effects at the ends of a member. So if you divide your member in segments you will achieve something like the P-Small Delta effect.

That's what I have done before.  However, I wish they had something a little easier to implement.
