How to reach level 1 for astm E 446 radiographic control?

(OP)
Hello everyone
Is the level 1 or 2 in Astm E446 radiographic control for steel casting accessible by any foundry technique ?
I work in shell moulding foundry and we haven't experience for with this type of control.
The range of defect can depend by forming techonolgy?

thanks

What is the grade of steel ,and application of the castings? It is always not necessary to achieve level 1. Level3 is commonly accepted.

The castings are for refractory support. Steel is HK40 ASTMA351. The custmer's question is what kind of level have to be request to avoid creep crack sensitization.

I have produced a lot of these kind of castings over the years. They were not radiographed for internal defects. The only concerns were dimensional accuracy, right chemistry and a good finish. I am sure there will be defects inside the casting as these cannot be fed due to the complexity of their geometry.

Only advice is keep the carbon as low as possible it helps.
