Lithobeams or Lithobars?

Lithobeams or Lithobars?

Lithobeams or Lithobars?

(OP)
I've been confronted with a roof frame using what I believe are lithobars.  I spoke with my father, a PE with 50+ years experience, and he recalls them and identified them from a picture.  He said we had a catalogue in the office years ago, but it was tossed when we cleaned out some junk that was never used.  First, does anyone have any information on lithobars (or lithobeams as some have called them) and second, does anyone know where I can get some loading information on them?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Lithobeams or Lithobars?

Thanks.  I just happened to run across a reference in my office library in a very old Kidder-Parker Handbook.  They were called Lith-I-Bars and they were manufactured by the Lith-I-Bar Company of Kalamazo, Michigan.  Apparently, the University of Michigan department of engineering did some testing on them, so I might try there to see what they have.

Thanks again.
