The Bp coeffiecient is what measurement of the plate?  Is it along the connection or perpendicular out from the column?  Also if a single plate shear tab connection is used, do the bolts connecting the framing member have a reduction in strength due to the local bending moment?

RE: Chapter K Specs

Although we could make "educated" guesses here as to what publication you are referring, it would be better for all to be more definitive and post the publication title and year too, so that we may help you more efficiently.

Sorry.  I wam referring to AISC Specifications for structural steel buildings 2005 Chapter K.  This is for the design of HSS and box member connections.  The Bp coeeficient is the "width of plate, measured 90 degrees to the plane of the connection, in."  It seems to me the length along the connection, where the weld is, should be governing.  Are there any good examples of an HSS to w-shape connection with a single plate shear tab with welding and bolting?

RE: Chapter K Specs

Ir t seems tht the test basis here is limited from the note in section K1.2  Limits of Applicability.

The commentary has figures depicting the the Bpdimension. See table C-K1.1(a).

RE: Chapter K Specs

The AISC examples CD that comes with the "Manual" has a few example HSS connections that I found usefull.
