ID SYMBOL PREFIX/SUFFIX

ID SYMBOL PREFIX/SUFFIX

(OP)
I am new to NX after using UG years ago.  Anyone know a way to add a prefix or suffix to an id symbol callout? We typically use "typ" or "5X" next to the symbols as information to aid in quantities.

Thanks

RE: ID SYMBOL PREFIX/SUFFIX

While there is no explicit 'append text' option for an ID Symbol, once a symbol has been created you go into...

Insert -> Note...

...enter your desired text, such as 'typ' or '5X', go to the Settings section and select the 'Style' button and under the 'Staking' tab, select the 'Left/Right Alignment' option of 'Middle' (note that if you're going to be doing a lot of this, you could have preset, in Customer Defaults or Annotation Preferences, the 'Stacking' options).  Now go back up to the 'Alignment' section of the Notes dialog, choose the 'Associative' Auto Alignment method and toggle on 'Stack Annotation'.  Now when you place your cursor, with a 'preview' of your note attached to it, over the desired ID symbol it should highlight with a dashed box around it and as you move the cursor inside this 'box' you will get a preview of the note 'stacked' relative to the ID symbol at various positions around the ID symbol.  And when you see something that you like, just press MB1 and you're done.  Now if you were to move the ID Symbol, your 'appended' text would move with it.

I believe that if you use a split balloon type that the quanity can be used from the parts list data.
