Corrosion Allowance Consideration For ASME B 31.8

Corrosion Allowance Consideration For ASME B 31.8

Corrosion Allowance Consideration For ASME B 31.8

(OP)
Dear All,

I have gone through some ASME B 31.8 and did not see anywhere corrosion allowance is considered in wall thickness. Please, is it only in ASME B 31.3 corrosion allowance is considered and for ASME B 31.8, is corrosion allowance considered?

Thanks.

RE: Corrosion Allowance Consideration For ASME B 31.8

Internal corrosion allowance in B31.8 is left to the discretion of the engineer.  Dry transmission pipeline quality gas doesn't need a corrosion allowance in most cases.  If you have a gathering system, or significant quantities of water and CO2 or acid-forming components, etc. it would be appropriate to use one.
