Document Recovery Issues

Document Recovery Issues

Document Recovery Issues

(OP)
Hi All,

I've been having a consistent issue with my 2009. Any time it crashes and I go to choose document recovery the list below is blank.

However if I select open all it will open up my autorecover files for me. And on top of this when I try to save the autorecover version it tells me it has failed to save the document.

Anybody run into this?

SW 2009
SP 3
Vista 64
Geforec 8800 XT

60% of the time, it works every time.

RE: Document Recovery Issues

I would imagine that it has something to do with how SW is terminating with the error.  Maybe a trigger isn't being sent to the auto-recovery to activate it.  I'm running 2008 and it happens with that version as well.

RE: Document Recovery Issues

So far, autorecover only works like I think it should when I set up a test case to demonstrate how nonfunctional it is.

On real files, its track record is disappointing in extremis.

Wow bit of a hot topic.

I'm concerned about issues working with Photoworks when you're doing lots of material editing and then it crashes and all your precise slider work is lost. Even losing 2 minutes of slider adjustment is a pain in the but.

However I didn't know that there was a performance gain by disabling it. Looks like I'll be a Ctrl+S fiend from now on.

Cheers

RE: Document Recovery Issues

I have all of that stuff disabled and live with crashes, it seems to work for me. If you get the failed to save document error, just save it under a new name and rename through windows.
