Electroless Nickel thickness & machining

(OP)
I am looking to get a part Electroless Nickel plated to approximately 0.002-0.0025" thick.  The part is an aluminum casting, not sure of the alloy.  The inside diameter of the area to be plated is approximately 2.4".  The manual specifies MIL-C-26074.  Is this thickness easily attainable?

Part 2: Is it possible to machine the electroless nickel coating to a good finish and hold a tolerance of 0.0007" (total) or does it need to be ground?

RE: Electroless Nickel thickness & machining

Depends on what you're making.  People have diamond turned electroless nickel for optics, but that usually requires a post-polish.
