Is it acceptable practice to use a stainless steel leveling plate when the column base plate is A36 steel?  Are there any dissimilar metal interaction issues with this?  The environment is an industrial facility subject to acids.

What is to keep the acid from geting around or over the SS baseplates??

Well, that is a good question.  It is an owner requirement that they seem to have had success with in other applications.
