Simulation Premium Evaluation
Simulation Premium Evaluation
(OP)
My apologies; I was rushed so didn't look extremely hard to see if this posting exists already but... I am looking to aquire some FEA software for my company and have very limited FEA experience (I will be taking training on the selected software to correct this). I am running a Solidworks 2009 platform and was wondering if anyone had experience with Simulation Premium. I am interested in doing vibration and impact anylysis on assemblies (displacement limited impact on the shell, how do internals respond) and in the future I was hoping to also do dynamic analysis on moving assemblies in fluid flow paths. I think that the Flow analysis and simulation premium might not be powerful enough for what I would like to do, but would like some user input on it, especialy if someone could compare to COMSOL, Nastran or ANSYS.

More importantly I would consider acquiring some knowledge of FEA. The software doesn't take the place of that knowledge, it just makes it easier if you already have it.
"Building Better Products with Finite Element Analysis" by Vince Adams is a good place to start.

I wish I could help you but I've just got my copy these days. I see an occasional used copy show up at Amazon but that's about it. If SW Sim (ex-COSMOS) is your primary tool, you may want to check out a book I recently wrote for NAFEMS that focuses on tools like SW Sim. (I actually finished this while at SW so it is very tuned to SW Sim users. This has many of the same aspects (albeit updated) as BBPwFEA.
