fire pump power source

fire pump power source

(OP)
At a Federal sprinkled installation currently under construction, a fire pump & controller are installed, but without the ability to become energized via a standby generator on-site. There are at least two remaining economically viable options left to consider Fire Pump power (Can not meet July 8 dates if controller was sent back for ATS addition).

Question is: Can Fire Pump be terminated at load-side of ATS? (either uitlity or genset would provide power)

1. Hook Fire Pump up to load side of ATS. This scenario seems most reasonable as the probability for power outage is greater than fire. However, utility & STBY power would be in same enclosure, which may not be allowed in code. Risk here is a separate feed, C/B, & ATS in genset for Fire Pump may also be required. This scenario would require approval of inspector (AHJ).

2. Hook Fire Pump up to Utility power, upstream of any C/B (just as it is now). This scenario seems somewhat reasonable as it involves no changes. This scenario would require approval of inspector (AHJ) to find the utility source as a "reliable" source per codes since it would be stand-alone and the genset would not be able to activate the Fire Pump.
