Pipe Rack Longitudinal Wind Loads

Pipe Rack Longitudinal Wind Loads

Pipe Rack Longitudinal Wind Loads

(OP)
Fellow Engineers,

For multi-level pipe rack design, does anyone know how to calculate the longitudinal wind loads (This can be quit significant). Same thing for long conveyor belt trusses that spann between bents. I have no problem with the lateral wind load calculations.

Thanks for the help in advance

RE: Pipe Rack Longitudinal Wind Loads

Take the projected area of all truss members onto the plane perpendicular to the wind.  Multiply by the appropriate shape drage factors.  There is assumed no blocking of one member by another, as truss members are relatively far apart.
