Torque in a screw connection

Torque in a screw connection

Torque in a screw connection

(OP)
I have a bolt and nut connection which increase the tension force as I tighten it. I must know how much torque I can add to this connection based on the capacity in shear and bolt stress area.

It is a stub acme connection, not a common bolt and nut connection.

RE: Torque in a screw connection

Is there a question in there somewhere?

RE: Torque in a screw connection

I assume your question is "what is the relationship between applied torque and axial force for my screw thread connection?".  If so, then you should look up Power Screws for the relationship.  A Mechanical Engineering book like Shigley and Mischke has this information.
