API 622

API 622

(OP)
In 2006 there has been a post regarding this API 622. What about it in 2009 ?
One of our customer aksed us some valves acc TA LUFT but as we have some problems they suggest to check with API 622. Can somebody tell me the major differences between these 2 standards ?

thank you in advance.

RE: API 622

Both standards have as target to minimize fugitive emissions to air through leaking stem seals, both require tests done by approved authority for qualified, certified supply.

'Constructed to comply with ....etc' is not the real thing without the certified test. If you do not have this already done, you might have to reconstruct to comply and pass the test.

What is your end-users actual demand?

Flo65,
do you refer to thread408-155734: API 622 about Valve Packing type testing and/or thread408-40826: API 682 for rotary valves packing?

May be you'll find also useful to take also a look at a paper about testing to API 622 on:
      -   http://www.garlock.com/company_files/API%20Standard%20622.pdf

Regarding TA Luft, instead, you can see:

      - the German Regulation on  http://www.bmu.de/english/air_pollution_control/ta_luft/doc/36958.php
---> the section applicable to valves is § 5.2.6.4 on page 66 of the .pdf document

      -  the reference VDI 2440 Guideline Summary on http://www.vdi.de/uploads/tx_vdirili/pdf/9065055.pdf
      ---> the sections applicable to valves are § 3.3.1.3 and Annex Test Method;

      -  a paper on http://www.valve-world.net/pdf/VW_Riedl_LR.pdf.

Hope this helps,    'NGL
