Spiral Welded 316SS Pipe Specifications

Spiral Welded 316SS Pipe Specifications

Spiral Welded 316SS Pipe Specifications

(OP)
Hi,

I'd have thought this would be a simple thing to find, but I haven't been able to find a good answer.

My company is currently ordering some 316SS spiral welded pipe spools. I'm abit concerned that the manufacturer and the procurrent officer don't seem to know to which standard the pipe, the pressed bends and the rolled 316SS flanges with gal backing rings have been manufactured or designed to. I'm sure 'she'll be right', but I'd like to know what we are buying.

Can anyone tell me some common standards that I should look up? I'm in Australia, but don't think any AS standards cover spiral welded pipe and fittings. In future I'd like to specify what we buy, so that when we get quotes, I know that we are comparing like.

Thanks.

Well it's not API 5LC so try ASTM A788 for the pipe.  She'll be right mate!

Indeed slip of the finger - easily done.  Like buying pipe with some unknown spec I guess!

I've heard of A778, but don't have a copy of it. From the scope, it would appear to be maily for pipe (tube). Does it also cover the construction of pressed bends?

At $30ish it won't break the bank, but I'm more concerned about bends than straight pipe.
