earth leak triping

earth leak triping

(OP)
I have encountered about earth leak triping (16A,ELCB,30 mA).
This is power supply feeder to many space heater of motors. This problem I think ELCB 30 mA is not enough.

anyone can suggest me what can i do Between

A) change ELCB 30 mA to 100 mA. or
B) Saparate feeder from 1 feeder to 2 feeders and use 30 mA.
C)for your suggestion

Thanks

RE: earth leak triping

D) Fix the problem so that the leakage current goes away.

RE: earth leak triping

Jed057,

I think you have already answered the question.
30mA ELCB is not suitable for the application (due to long cabling/wiring downstream).
You may need to split the load in to two feeders and also change the ELCB to 100mA.
If leakage current can be measured with max load connected, it would help make the right decision.

RE: earth leak triping

Per davidbeach, fix the leakage.
Per raghun, split the load to two feeders.
The setting of the ELCB is a safety issue and may be a code issue. Review your codes and plant safety guidelines before changing to a 100ma ELCB.
