Bibliography about Blind Rivets

Bibliography about Blind Rivets

Bibliography about Blind Rivets

(OP)
Hello everybody,

I'm searching bibliography about blind rivets and the surprise is there isn't so much information (or at least I didn't find it), specially how to calculate connections, design criteria, etc. I'm really interested in lap metalsheets joints.

My questions are:
1.- Does anybody know any special methodology to calculate blind riveted connections? Can I follow the same methodology than bolted connections?
2.- Bibliography about blind rivets. Any suggestion?¿

Thanks a lot,

Ripubcn

RE: Bibliography about Blind Rivets

Hi ripubcn,

You can start with Machinery's Handbook. There is a large section on fasteners. Aerospace stress analysis books such as those of Bruhn and Michael C. Y. Niu have discussions on blind rivets.
The stress analysis of such joints is the same as for other riveted joints but using the appropriate rivet shear strength.

Thanks a lot Andries!

I will try to find these both references and general riveted joints information.

Do a web search for nasa reference publication rp-1228.  Good general aerospace fastener guide.  Get familiar with NAS specs such as NAS1398/1399.  The companies that produce them are cherry aerospace that produces CherryMax and CherryLock.  Alcoa makes a lot of fasteners as well like huck bolts.
