AISI 304 Bar vs A193 or F593

AISI 304 Bar vs A193 or F593

(OP)
Hi,

I am looking at A193 vs F593 (comparing 304), just doing a spec comparison. I was recently told there is also just plain AISI 304 Bar you can buy, that is not necessarily made to a spec, like bar specifically sold as meeting A193 would be.

In looking at my resources I've yet to see any mention of this third form of 304 stainless. Can someone please explain this or link to a description somewhere? Is this something that China sells in the U.S. and people just know meets the spec requirements  but isn't held to it?

Thanks!

My apologies! I see that this question was asked down below! I did a search of relevant terms and I didn't see a thread that had my answer so I posted. In the future I will refine my terms and do a more thorough search!

However, In that thread (http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=252745&page=1), the poster audiobhan1000 asked essentially the same thing, if AISI304 was essentially 304, just not formally to a sepc, and there was not a reply.

Sorry again for the double post!
